COL FISCHER PARK

Public BBQ

Col Fischer Park on Solander Esplanade demonstrates what happens when a council actually listens to its constituents. The beachfront reserve has become something of a work in progress,in the best possible sense, with regular upgrades steadily transforming the space. Barbecues appear with reassuring frequency, accompanied by proper seating and shade covers that acknowledge Queensland's rather enthusiastic sun. The addition of exercise equipment suggests someone in the planning department recognizes that beach access and fitness might appeal to the same demographic. The park's position along Solander Esplanade means the beach is genuinely accessible rather than theoretically nearby, and the ongoing improvements indicate this isn't a council that considers a park "finished" after the ribbon-cutting ceremony. For Banksia Beach locals and Bribie Island visitors alike, it's become the sort of foreshore facility that manages to improve each season without losing its essential character as a straightforward, functional coastal reserve.
